Appointments And Fees

I currently see directees at Bethel Lutheran Church in north Portland (see Directions). Sessions last approximately one hour and are by appointment only. Sessions are private and confidential.

There is no charge or commitment made with an initial appointment. The first session is an opportunity to see if the relationship is a match, and to explore one's individual reasons for seeking direction at this time. Either party is free to decide if the relationship is (or is not) a match at the end of this session, or may request some days to reflect on the experience. I am also happy to refer to another director or health care professional. If I sense a match, I will often ask if the individual would like to schedule another appointment. The directee is always at choice to accept or decline this offer.

Generally direction sessions are once a month, though more frequent sessions are possible at the request of the directee.

While the charging of fees varies among spiritual directors, I do ask for some compensation for my time and for building use. All compensation I receive for my practice goes towards sustaining this ministry of spiritual direction. Fees are on a sliding scale basis and are determined individually between the directee and myself.

Directions

Bethel Lutheran Church is located at 5658 N. Denver Ave (at the corner of N. Denver and N. Jessup streets, one long block north of Killingsworth)

From I-5 Northbound

  • Take the Swan Island /Killingsworth exit, #303. This is the first freeway exit after I-405 joins I-5.
  • Get in the right hand lane. At the end of the exit, veer right following signs for Alberta/Killingsworth.
  • Go straight, crossing Alberta at the stop sign, staying in your right hand lane.
  • At the next stop sign, Killingsworth, take a left, crossing over I-5.
  • Go straight through the light at N. Interstate, crossing the MAX tracks, and proceed to the flashing red light and stop sign at N. Denver. Take a right here, and go one long block north.
  • The church is on the right hand side. Go right onto Jessup. You may park here on the street next to the building, or, after August, pull into the parking lot at the end of the building.
  • The entrance for direction is through the glass-door on N. Jessup. If the door is locked, please ring the bell and someone will be with you shortly.
